I GIVE MY FRIENDS FLOWERS is the creative outlet of Jacob Klein + friends.
Jacob began making records at age 10, growing up between his father's hi-fi audio shop and his mother's garden — learning early to listen closely to sound, space, and feeling. He studied at Duquesne and Belmont, apprenticed alongside Jules Shear and Larry Crane, and spent a decade producing and engineering before turning that attention inward.
The music moves between indie soul, lo-fi folk, dream pop and alt hip-hop.
Often described as atmospheric, melodic, and soulful.
I GIVE MY FRIENDS FLOWERS is for late nights, car rides, and open windows.
I GIVE MY FRIENDS FLOWERS is an invitation, an offering.
Made with friends, for friends.
For anyone you love.
The project was born out of a simple conviction: tomorrow isn't promised.

‘FEEL LIKE’ - Single & Music Video
Release Date October 22 2026
With "FEEL LIKE", the first piece of new music since DOGSTAR 1, Jacob Klein + friends return with an organic blend of indie drums, guitars and zaney synths - the new single is atmospheric, bubbling towards a future that's unknown but strangely full of hope.
"FEEL LIKE" was the first song i give my friends flowers wrote after the "1,000 year flood" of Hurricane Helene destroyed his town and the ecosystems around Asheville, North Carolina. He found a rescued piano and began writing the single, with his headspace somewhere in the space between recovery and whatever comes next. It opens with a warped guitar sample from a friend who had spent much of that last summer before the flood in the studio, working on his own record.
The music video directed by Klein and Yehuda Katz explores the themes behind the song in symbolic terms: On the outskirts of a near-future NYC, a reclusive groundskeeper helps Jacob find and reattach his shadow.

‘DOGSTAR 1’ - LP
Release Date AUGUST 21 2026
"DOGSTAR 1" — a 12-song LP, non-linear, kaleidoscopic, and densely immersive — led by single "VOICES." Named for Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, the record moves between dream pop, alt-pop, electronic-soul, and lo-fi folk, spanning the full range of what it means to lose people to death, distance, and change, and what it means to keep choosing love anyway. Produced between Pittsburgh, Asheville, and the New River Gorge with co-producers Harrison Wargo, Gabriel Lotfy-Nassar, Kyle Baumbach, Julian Klein, Julius Tunstall, Evan Isaac Black, and Mike Johnson. Mastered by Chris Gehringer at Sterling Sound.
"Hard to generalize, quantify and/or compare, i give my friends flowers feels totally authentic and original, which goes a long way in a world full of cookie cutter creators and clout chasing copycats."
- ROCKDAFUQOUT
"far more than just another pop album – it's a true lo-fi masterpiece,"
"a unique voice whose warm and soulful timbre you'll instantly recognize among a thousand others."

‘A RIVER RUNS
THROUGH ME’ - EP
Release Date JULY 17 2026
Six-song EP and first chapter of LP "DOGSTAR 1" blending alt-pop, dream-folk, and electronic-soul with colorful synths, organic/electronic drum textures, and reverb-heavy vocal production. Atmospheric, melodic, and emotionally direct — suited for late-night drives, reflective listening, and solo headphone moments. Led by focus single "Pollen." FFO Bon Iver, Toro y Moi, Sampha, and Bladee.
"With 'pollen,' i give my friends flowers offers more than an engaging indie-electronic track—it’s a thoughtful meditation on growth, resilience, and the quiet courage required to heal. It’s the kind of song that rewards repeat listens, revealing new emotional textures each time."
- Hella Fuzz
"The song carries weariness without surrendering warmth, and its electronic movement prevents reflection from hardening into stillness.
As the opening doorway into A River Runs Through Me and the larger DOGSTAR sequence, it offers a persuasive statement of intent. Here, i give my friends flowers is learning how to let grief pass through without allowing it to take everything with it."
- No Transmission
“'pollen' feels like the perfect distillation of the project’s broader mission: a search for stability amidst constant flux."
- Find a Song
"Everything from the soulful vocals to the lo-fi atmospheric production makes this into a worthy listen, especially if you enjoy the likes of Toro y Moi or Bon Iver."

‘EVERY MOMENT SOMETHING
BEAUTIFUL DIES’ - single
Release Date MAY 1 2026
"A lushly absorbing pop sucess with soulful heartfelt appeal,"
- Obscure Sound
"...the everyday details that anchor the lyrics represent one of their most powerful attributes. Elements like the sofa or the drama unfolding on the television screen transform the comfort of home into the backdrop for an internal existential turmoil,"
- Zone Nights
The first single from upcoming LP "DOGSTAR 1" blends alt/indie pop, rock and dream pop with washed vocals, atmospheric synth layers, and a steady, driving groove. Melancholic but propulsive, it’s suited for late-night drives, reflective listening, running, walking, and time outdoors.
